Last Saturday the cross country
team had a championship, at the Open University, which girls and boys from
both Year 5 and Year 6 racing against thirty other schools! There were 180
people in each race with six people from each school in the race. The girls
from Year 5 had to run one thousand meters and the top four racers came
fifth, seventh, fifteenth and eighteenth out of 180 people! Both the boys
from Year 5 and the girls from Year 6 had to run one thousand five hundred
meters, with the top racer from Year 5 coming in at sixteenth and the top
racer in Year 6 coming in the same position.
But the boys from Year 6 were the
stars with the top racers coming in third, tenth, twenty first and twenty
fifth and out of thirty schools they came first over all. All of the team
were really happy when they found out they had come second altogether and
they also enjoyed giving assemblies to the whole school and sharing their
success with the other pupils in the school.
On the 7th March, the New Year 6
girls football team had their first tournament at Tatenhoe Pavilion against
three other schools. Their first game was against Stanton which they lost
1-0. Their second game was against Caroline Hasslet which they won 3-0, but
the next game against Greenleys was the best with a 8-1 win for Two Mile
Ash.
After the girls share of success
came the boys, when they played Great Linford at Bushfield School where they
won 4-0. They also played against Bushfield themselves and won 7-1a few
weeks before.
The netball team also played in a
tournament at Northampton Grammar School. They played six games against
Northampton Grammar A and B, Quentin A and B and Moltun A and B. They drew
against Quentin B but won the rest of their games causing them to win the
tournament and a fantastic trophy.
